Cavanaugh Curb Appeal is an exterior home improvement and outdoor living contractor serving Oakland, Macomb, Wayne, Washtenaw, Livingston, Genesee and Lapeer counties in Michigan. This page explains what we collect when you ask us for an estimate, what we do with it, and how to have it removed.
We are a local contractor, not an advertising business. We do not sell your information, and we do not rent or trade it.
What we collect
Information you give us
Our estimate request forms ask for some or all of the following, depending on which form you use:
- Your name
- Your phone number and email address
- The property address, city and ZIP code where the work would be done
- The type of project and a description of what you want
- Photos of your property, if you choose to upload them
- Which lighting package you are interested in, on our holiday lighting form
- How you heard about us
- Whether you want us to text you
You can also reach us by phone or email without filling in a form. If you do, we keep whatever you tell us in that conversation.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, ours records basic technical information when you visit: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you viewed, and the site or ad that sent you here. We use advertising and analytics tools from Google and from Meta (Facebook and Instagram) that set cookies or similar identifiers in your browser, so we can measure whether our ads work and show our ads to people who have visited the site. See Cookies, analytics and advertising below.
Photos of your property
Photos get their own section, because a picture of your house is more personal than a phone number.
Photos you upload with an estimate request are used to prepare and discuss your estimate.
We also photograph our finished work, and we use those photos in our portfolio, on this website, on social media and in our advertising. That includes work completed at your home.
We show the work, not where you live. We do not publish your name, your street address or your house number alongside the photos, and we do not tag the location of your home.
If you would rather we did not photograph your property or use the images, tell us before the job starts and we will note it on your file. If a photo is already published and you want it taken down, email us and we will remove it.
Text messages
Our holiday lighting form has a box you can tick to let us text you about your design and install date. Ticking it is how you consent to those messages.
- Consent to texts is not a condition of buying anything from us. Leave the box unticked and you will still get an estimate.
- We text about your estimate, scheduling, your install and takedown dates, and occasionally about seasonal service. Frequency varies with your project.
- Message and data rates may apply, depending on your carrier and plan.
- Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving them. Reply HELP for help, or call us at the number below.
- We do not share your phone number with anyone for their own marketing.
How we use what we collect
- To prepare your estimate and answer your questions
- To schedule and carry out work you hire us for, and to come back for warranty or takedown service
- To contact you about your project by phone, email or text
- To keep business records, including invoices and job history
- To understand which of our ads and marketing actually bring in work
If you ask for an estimate and decide not to go ahead, we may follow up a small number of times. Tell us to stop and we will.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information. We share it only in these situations:
- Companies that run our tools. Our website host, our form and email providers, and the advertising and analytics platforms described below. They handle the data in order to provide their service to us.
- Our crew and any subcontractor on your job. They get what they need to do the work, such as your address and what you asked for.
- When the law requires it, or to establish or defend a legal claim.
- If the business is sold or merged, customer records may transfer with it.
Cookies, analytics and advertising
We advertise on Google and on Meta's platforms. Those services place cookies or similar identifiers in your browser so we can tell whether an ad led to an estimate request, and so our ads can be shown to people who have already visited this site.
You can limit this:
- Google ad settings: myadcenter.google.com
- Meta ad preferences, in your Facebook or Instagram account settings
- Your browser's own cookie controls, which can block or clear these
Blocking them does not stop you using this site or requesting an estimate.
How long we keep it
We keep what you send us while we are working with you, and afterwards as part of our business and tax records. We need job history to honor warranties and to service lighting we installed in past seasons.
If you want your information deleted, email us and we will remove it, except anything we are required to keep for legal or accounting reasons. If you only asked for an estimate and never hired us, there is usually nothing we need to keep.
Your choices
- Ask us what we hold about you, and we will tell you.
- Ask us to correct anything that is wrong.
- Ask us to delete your information, subject to the records we must keep.
- Reply STOP to end text messages, or unsubscribe from any marketing email.
- Tell us to stop following up about an estimate, and we will.
Email or call us using the details below. We will not charge you or make it difficult.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect what you send us, including serving this website over an encrypted connection. No method of transmitting or storing information is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
This site is meant for adults arranging work on a property. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the effective date at the top.
